We are happy to announce details for our Second Bi-Annual Sew-cation!

This year's Sewcation will be held at the Hampton Inn & Suites Northwest, 2020 Shafer Street, Bismarck 58501 (near BSC).

Capital Quilters' Sewcation occurs every other year in October/November and is intended to provide unstructured sewing time for members of Capital Quilters to work on their own projects with the comradery of fellow quilters. Start a new project, finish a UFO, machine quilt, do handwork - the choice is yours!

Some things to keep in mind:

  • The tables at the Hampton Inn are not all the same size. You may have a smaller table to yourself or may be sharing a larger table.

  • No design walls may be attached to the meeting room wall by any means. Portable design walls can be used as space permits.

  • Ironing stations and cutting boards will be set up for the group. Individual irons at the work space must be limited to mini-irons.

  • While some extension cords will be available, it is recommended that you bring your own heavy duty extension cord and/or power strip and be prepared to share if needed.

  • Music is a personal preference; if you plan to listen to music while sewing, please use ear buds or headphones.

  • Only the Sewcation committee members will have access to a key to the sewing room; quiet hours will be observed in consideration of hotel guests.

HOTEL ROOMS:  Rooms have not been set aside, but Stacey at the Hampton Inn can be contacted at 701-751-5656 for pricing. 

MEALS: Coffee and water will be supplied by the Hampton Inn. Hotel guests will get a complimentary breakfast; breakfast is available to others at a cost of $4.95. Lunch and dinner will be on your own; you may bring something from home, order take out, or go to one of the many area restaurants. Please be aware that there is no refrigerator in the meeting room. Meals may be eaten at the tables/bar in the public room of the hotel. Please bring a snack to share at the designated "snack buffet" counter. The Saturday evening meal will be provided as part of the registration fee. 

DEMOS: If you have anything special you would like to demonstrate for the group, please let us know on your registration. Examples would be a special technique, a new favorite tool, or even a pattern you have made that would be easy and quick to show. This is optional and it is not something you need to do to attend. If you think this is something people might want to try at the Sewcation, let a Committee member know what supplies would be required.
